VR rendering with Blender - VR viewing with VRAIS
Переглядів 43 тис.8 років тому
One of the newest additions to Blender is the ability to render stereoscopic equirectangular VR images in Cycles. Here’s a short guide how to setup Blender for VR rendering. To view the finished result I use the Google Cardboard and our own little App called VRAIS - VR Awesome in Space. We developed the app as a tool for out studio workflow but also as a community based VR Gallery. You can find...
Auto-Offset. A better workflow for Blender's node editor.
Переглядів 1,5 тис.8 років тому
When you drop a node with at least one input and one output socket onto a an existing connection between two nodes, auto-offset will, depending on the direction setting, automatically move the left or right node away to make room for the new node. It is triggered by the same logic that is used to automatically connect the new node, indicated by the highlighted noodle. You can toggle the directi...
Track Match Blend 2 - Camera Tracking with Blender

Track Match Blend 2 is an ongoing course about how to create Visual Effects with Blender. That includes camera and object tracking, rendering and compositing 3D elements into live action footage, masking, keying and rotoscoping as well as set extensions, retouching and footage cleanup. Full course available at cloud.blender.org/open-movie/track-match-blend-2/
Blender: From track to composite in 1 minute.

Just a short demo of how fast you can track a shot in Blender if you automate a few things... Feature Detection in Blender's MovieClipEditor has become a bit more useful for me. To make selecting all spiky tracks more automatic I have written a little script that will filter tracks by sudden changes in their speed (aka spikes). Thanks to Andreas Schuster for helping with math and python! If you...
About Blender's Rightclick Select and the reasons for it
Переглядів 8 тис.10 років тому
Blender's default setting of rightclick-select is probably the most controversial feature of Blender. But it's not just for the sake of being different, nor just for shiz and giggles. It was done this way for certain reasons and to allow some elegant workflows, which I try to outline in this video.
Robotty. Track and Comp with Blender.
Переглядів 10 тис.11 років тому
It's been a while since I did any timelapse videos, but today I had a bit of fun doing a little timelapse of 40 minutes tracking, rendering and composting in Blender. Nothing special, but it's always fun to demo how quick and flexible this stuff can be in Blender. If you want to learn using Blender for VFX, come to Amsterdam and learn it right there in the Blender Institute! www.blender.org/ble...
Some new Blender features from Ton's holiday of code
Переглядів 3,6 тис.11 років тому
There's a lot of cool stuff that Ton committed to trunk, here's just 3 examples. What I didn't show here yet is something that has been requested for several years now: Save User Preferences independent from your scene. Startup.blend and User prefs are now separate!
Digital Makeup in Blender
Переглядів 7 тис.12 років тому
For the next Open Movie of the Blender Foundation, Codename "Mango" (see: mango.blender.org/ ), one of the many requirements to create Visual Effects will be digital makeup. One possible technique for that is to create a digital double of the actor, where you can easily apply textures and props to. After that you can easily composite that on top of the footage. This is a little experiment with ...

Here's a video about Easycapstudio, who are offering a facial motion capture system and software. www.easycapstudio.com/ They are producing .bvh-files who can easily be imported to Blender and applied to any mesh. Combined with Blender's powerful sculpting system it's really a nice solution to let your digital characters talk. :)

kinda wild 12 years ago, blender has come so far now
15 years later and this was a core memory of my childhood igniting my interest for 3d modeling!
Wow, that makes me happy! :) Yeah, it’s so long ago, for me it was also still the beginnings of my blender journey. Memories…
fabulous...! You still into this sorta thing (as its 7yrs later)
Tutorial plz
Site no longer works
Lieber Sebastian König, wie geht's Dir? Arbeitest Du noch mit Blender? Ich fand Deine Erklärungen immer sehr hilfreich. Vielen Dank dafür! Liebe Grüße
Thank you Sebastian for sharing this tutorial. I have couple of questions: Is it possible to make an interactive 3D walkthrough for VR using Blender and I am not being able to download VRAIS app from App Store, so is VRAIS only available for Android?
They fucked up Right click selct since Blender 2.80 for me, so you accidentally drag an object when you just want to select it. Is there any way (maybe an addon) to make it possible to drag objects with right click like in Blender 2.7X where you need to press left click to apply?
You can change that in the preferences section
@@danielsouto2101 Thanks i found it a few years to late :D Its in input settings and called release confirms. If you uncheck it, it works like in 2.79
how times have changed... what a time to be alive...
Are there any alternative sites?
Did you go to the website? I couldn't enter.
Most of these settings are missing in the new ui :/
preach it!! one of my greatest fears for blender 2.8 is that it will become slower and less efficient than it is, in order to conform to 'everybody else.'
Link is dead?
Hi all! I´m trying to render an stereoscopic - equirectangular image of a hallway, I already achieved to render it on a top-bottom image and watch it on my HTC Vive device on stereo, everything works fine except the overall size of the hallway, it looks bigger than it shoud. My logic was to increase the Interocular Distance of the eyes to emulate a “bigger head” but that logic didn´t worked, that just makes a mess and a potential headache. I also reduce de size of the full hallway, that didn´t work either. So, my question is, is there a way to define the size of the “spectator” or the size of the space in an equirectangular stereoscopic render, I mean… to play with some value that can give you how a fly would percieve the space or if a giant stuck his big head on the hallway. I´m thinking that it can be related with optics or cameras but you can´t edit or play with those values on a equirectangular “panorama type” I´m using 2.8RC Thanks you very much in advance!
same problem. any fix?
Cool!!!
This guy is never finishing his tutorial and it makes me sad.
He did
Impressive job with that test 😍
RIP :(
Need this for UE4
Hey can you please upload your fly model in drive and give me link to download it I want that for my video please 😅😅😅😅
Hey can you please upload it in drive and then give me the link to download it I want that please
VRAIS died. RIP
Bro, that's awesome! Short, usefull, simple explanation!!! Keep going man!
very cool
Can someone please help me make wings with that transparency texture?
Is there a place you can get this or something like this and how long did this take to make?
Hi Sebastian! Is it possible that we have an update of this video for 2.8? It would be good to teach the newbies the good habits for a fast workflow in Blender, and not tempt them with the slow Industry Standard workflow.
I can't find the app. It's not on the play store.
Yeah, unfortunately it has been taken down...
So for everyone who whats to try this out. VRAIS is dead. :(
Sounds like one of those choices made in a meeting room. Would love to see user tests validation on this...
well... I've run into that issue a lot on 3ds max. it really does help.
If only Bill Gates, and Paul Allen had made the right click default in windows, all the softwares would have followed suit and we wouldn't have all these haters cause I think this is a really nice feature. I think the problem's just that we aren't used to this. And that's definitely not a big deal. But when it comes to beginners or newcomers, well I'm afraid for Blender's future growth.
i use left click and i never ever ran into these non problems.
all program in the world - left click selection - Oh my Gad! right click selection it SO genius! And also you have shortcuts!!!! nobody have!! only you!!! oh my gad i'm cumming from blender genius!
someone use VRAIS - VR at last month i cant upload scene and dont know why :(
Is VRAIS working on Gear VR?
The comment section of this video: "I learned everything on Maya before I discovered Blender was better so Blender is wrong!" I guess they don't realize Blender has been around far longer than Maya has.
Being first is not an excuse for being worse.
this is really well put together video - do you mind showing how you did it (software editing, zooming in on screen dynamically, the resolution of the captured screen is pristine)
Thanks a lot! I used Screenflow for it. Back then I think it was only for OSX, by now, if I remember correctly, there is a Windows version too for it. It has a lot of nice editing tools for screencasts.
Sebastian König awesome thank you :)
I mean... You could've just shown us the video, not looking through the phone
So plug and play then. 😉
You're working against muscle memory of every other app. This is the number one reason why people abandon Blender,- but hey, you will always think you're right.
"but hey, you will always think you're right" works for you too
@@Path_Out This was two years ago...
@@seanerer So do you still think you're right?
I'd its a fact that Blender was working against muscle memory of every other app. Also, Blender 2.8 is using left click by default now. Almost every Blender 2.8 Tutorial is using left click. So, I'd say the war has been lost by your side... ;)
@@seanerer Sad for you that you're not aware that we're on 2.91 now, also i don't remember seeing a single tutorial pointing out that you should use the left click, maybe you're following tutorials made by people that only started learning recently, because all good blender users are still on the older keymaps, since they're faster, easier and more logical :/
The default right-click select thing is annoying as fuck, because it should give us the drop down menu instead. Setting left-mouse to a regular select also does not change the right mouse into that, which it should. Also, in reality Blender could really do with a 'drag to select' feature anyway.
Hold control and click/drag LMB, there's your drag to select.
it still renders as red and cyan
There should be a way to force Blender to use LMB for everything and not just invert the mouse buttons I mean there should be a way to individually customise every single component for the mouse buttons etc.
The whole LMB/RMB issue will probably resolved with the next major version of blender, when the entire input system will be revisited: wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:2.8/UI/Workshop_Writeup
Right click in Blender is the dumbest thing EVER
no it's not. anyhow, it will be fixed with 2.8
...then I'll hold off on using Blender until then.
It's one of alot other powerful things what other softwares do not have..,
he criticizes previewing it in Google cardboard for requiring an app download and then he promotes his own app... that you need to download. Thanks but if be willing to bet Google cardboard is better.
but how I can put sounds in the vr view?
wouldn't you just render it out and then in a separate video editing program then you would add sounds
Very good explanation on this messy topic. Thanks for your dedication. Can I watch a video made in the similar way as you mentioned in your video. I mean just change jpeg to h.264 or some other format (of course with some 100 of frames animation ;))
I want to make a VR game that has binoculars that can follow a VR users head any and every were the user moves there head for a portion of the game. Is this possible in blender VR creation? If so how can I tract a png file that I would make the binoculars with? Thanks!
Thank you very much! Danke vielmals für dieses tolle Tutorial!
